What They Do

  • Luxury Picnics
  • Add-ons: Catered food, polaroid camera and film, winter bubble tent, and mini photography session
Best friends Brenna Medvitz and Mary Flynn always knew they wanted to start a business together. This dream led them to create Wandering Picnics, a luxury popup picnic experience in Chester County.
Medvitz and Flynn met as students at West Chester University, where they met when they joined the same sorority. They established a working relationship when they worked on their sorority’s executive board and discovered they would do well running a business together. After years of throwing ideas around and in light of people being outdoors due to the pandemic, they came up with Wandering Picnics.

Wandering Picnics offers the opportunity to have the ultimate picnic experience at their home or a public park. Customers who book a picnic not only get all of the picnic essentials, but they also get floral arrangements, beverages, and the fan-favorite record player with vinyl that are all included in the cost. There are add-ons available such as donuts, juice, and a polaroid camera with film for the duration of the picnic.

Different themes are available depending on the occasion of the picnic. There are themes for date nights, anniversaries, birthdays, and more. All themes and set ups are customizable to fit the needs of the picnickers. The most popular theme is date night, but both Medvitz and Flynn are looking forward to themes that they have yet to use.

Medvitz is excited for the day that they will be able to set up a picnic for a proposal. Flynn is excited to use their new ‘winter bubble tent’ that allows them to continue picnics through the cold season!

The portable record player has become a favorite amongst customers. With plenty of vinyl to choose from, album choices include Whitney Houston, Neil Diamond, Donna Summer, Lana Del Rey and the surprising fan-favorite — Lizzo.

“I wasn’t expecting it to be as much of a hit as it was,” says Medvitz.

A Bluetooth speaker is also included in case the customers are not interested in the vinyl selection.

As their business is still in its beginning stage, so are the add-on options. They are searching for businesses that they will consistently visit to get their food, drinks, and floral arrangements from.

“We want to keep everything as local as possible, supporting local small businesses,” Medvitz says.

As they look to the future, Medvitz and Flynn say they want to become a full-service business and iron out the details of their offerings to best appeal to their customers. They are looking forward to growing their unique business and continuing to serve the Chester County area.

“I do get these weird adrenaline pushes every time we get an email, every time we get a survey back that they just loved everything about it. I’m just excited for it to grow,” says Flynn.

Wandering Picnics still has slots available in the next few months. They will be launching a gift certificate campaign for the holidays so that people can gift a picnic to friends and family. They are currently operating in Chester County, but they are willing to travel a reasonable distance for an additional cost.
